These incredible postcard-sized Kensitas flower cards are a collectors item dating from the 1930s. The smaller series of cards were free inside your packet of cigarettes, with the postcard sized series most likely given out with larger packs or quantities.
Embroidered on silk, each card contains a combination of two flowers as labelled on the front, each with their own cultural notes and meanings inside. The silks are in good vintage condition with some of the cards showing signs of age with foxing / markings.
Perfect for gifting or framing, a really special piece.
All have blank backs apart from ' Crocus - Snowdrop' and 'Poppy - Cornflower' which have a printed explanation of 'why do we give you these inserts?' as pictured.
