'Velos' Bakelite Roller Damper

A bakelite roller damper from 'Velos', made in England. This likely dates from the early-1930s and is a beautiful piece of Art Deco design. 

It has three sections; the base, the roller and the lid, all made from a red-brown, marbled Bakelite. Moulded into the base are the makers details: 'Maximus' Roller Damper, Velos, Made in England'.

Used for wetting stamps and envelopes, this roller damper would probably have been used in an office setting within a bank or even a post office.

A very useful vintage stationary item for the office or home. It's in excellent condition and the Bakelite has a great sheen to it.
