The long rounded stainless steel blade is perfect for spreading butter or cheese, making them a staple in any kitchen. 

The handles are made from an early plastic, introduced in the early 20th Century as a bone look-a-like. The examples pictured are stamped with their makers marks - Lawson & Co Ltd, Glasgow and W. M. Mitchell & Co, Manchester.
