Kipper Hammer - This beautiful example was originally used in shoe making. The flat textured face is used to hammer the leather around a last, with the claw able to remove the temporary tacks from around the shoe, once the glue had set and the leather had been stitched into place.
Cordwainer Hammer - Used for many a job in shoemaking, saddlery and leather crafting, the name 'cordwainer' comes from the name of the skilled craftsperson who makes new shoes (as opposed to a cobbler who fixes them). The hammer is used for pounding and shaping leather in the shoe making process.
Made by George Barnsley & Sons, a world-renowned tool manufacturer, these quality hammers were picked in person at their premises in Sheffield where we sourced a number of vintage items all available on our website.
